Challenge
The client found hiring across its Credit, Risk and Quantitative practices particularly challenging. Typically seeing 5-10% churn rates across the year, we supported the client’s strategy to attract the highest performing energy credit and risk talent in the sector. Candidates would often either not be of calibre, or not the right cultural fit.
Solution
Our network across investment banking and commodities credit communities is expansive and we were able to react quickly to requirements in this space. We typically would have approached commodity talent within investment bank franchises, but since many have shrunk, we looked to transferable skill sets from derivatives trading teams and risk backgrounds.
Outcome
A robust, front facing technical risk team that is able to work in tandem with the front office trading businesses on deal structuring, approval and risk mitigation. Success of cultural fit was key to ensuring candidates would enjoy this particularly fast paced environment.
