Challenge

Leveraged Finance Credit Underwriting experienced significant churn due to candidates being headhunted away to debt funds or front office leveraged finance origination platforms. The task was to re-build the team with high performing talent that was able to run all credit analysis and full due diligence and underwriting of market leading Tier 1 Private Equity Sponsors.

Solution

We mapped directly comparable underwriting teams and infrastructure franchises, to source individuals with depth in exact match product exposure. In addition, we supplemented those approaches with talent from ratings agencies and mid-tier banks that had comparable transaction experience, but no large cap leveraged finance underwriting exposure. This provided a blend of skills to complement the team, and ensured candidates were suitably motivated to stay with the franchise for longer than previous incumbents.

Outcome

Consecutive hires were made from Executive Director through to Vice President and AVP. A more robust team structure with room to grow for each individual and less overall churn for the platform.
